This policy describes how the NeonRep mobile app handles information. The website, email, device backups and app-store services mentioned below are explained separately because they can process information outside the app.
The short version
- Your workout logs and body-weight entries are saved on your phone. NeonRep does not upload them to Trap-jaw Ant Studios, LLC or to an app-operated cloud service.
- There is no NeonRep account and no app sign-in. We cannot access your local records. If you choose to send us an email or an attachment, we receive what you send.
- The app has no advertising, in-app analytics SDK or tracking SDK.
- Apart from your phone’s own backup (see “Backups”), your workout and body-weight records only leave your phone when you choose to send them: for example a backup file you save or a picture you share.
- After 10 free workouts, the unlock is bought through Google Play. The app asks Google Play whether you own it; it doesn’t send your workouts (see “Free workouts and Google Play purchases”).
What the app keeps on your phone
The app saves these things in its own storage on your phone:
- Your workouts: routines, unsaved routine edits, an unfinished workout, exercise names and muscle groups, sets, reps or timed durations, weights and units, bar/plate selections, warm-up/drop-set and superset choices, exercise notes, and workout dates and times.
- Body weight weigh-ins you add on the Stats tab.
- Your settings: language, colors and style, weight unit, rest timer, reminders and similar.
- Backup dates: when you last saved or restored a backup and when you last answered the backup reminder, plus whether it has asked for notification permission.
- Free workouts and the unlock: which finished workouts used up a free workout (by their workout id, which contains the time the workout started) and whether Google Play last said that your Google account owns the unlock. No purchase token, order number or payment details.
This information lets the app save and resume workouts, remember preferences, calculate statistics and personal records, show progress, and schedule the reminders you use. Workout and body-weight information can be sensitive health or fitness information. These calculations take place on your phone. The app does not connect to Apple Health or Health Connect.
During first-launch setup, the app reads your phone’s locale/measurement-system setting to suggest kilograms or pounds. It also reads relevant system appearance, motion and notification settings to provide those features. This is not GPS tracking, and the app does not send these settings to us.
NeonRep does not automatically upload these records. Copies may leave your phone through your device’s own backup service, or when you choose to export, share or email them, as described below.
Old progress photos: test versions of the app could take private progress photos. That feature has been removed. At startup, the app attempts to delete the old photo folder and the key used to lock those photos. It does not upload or display the old photos. Copies in old backups outside the app are not erased by this cleanup.
Old check-up and body answers: test versions of the app also asked how you felt before a workout, and for your age, sex, height and body weight in the setup. Those questions have been removed. The next time the app starts, it deletes those answers from your phone. Backup files you saved before then may still hold them.
Old setup answers: test versions of the app asked about your experience, goal, equipment, how often and how long you can train, body parts to go easy on, and exercises you like or don’t like, to build a plan. Those questions have been removed: the setup now only asks for your language, weight unit and weekly goal (saved with your settings) and lets you pick a starter template. The next time the app starts, it deletes those old answers from your phone, and restoring an older backup file doesn’t bring them back. Backup files you saved before then may still hold them.
Storage and security
The app stores workout records, settings, body-weight entries, backup status and the free-workout status in its local app storage. It does not add its own encryption or password protection to these records. Exported JSON backups and temporary sharing files are also not encrypted by NeonRep. Protection depends on your device, its operating system and the destination you choose for exported files. No storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.
NeonRep keeps local records until you edit or delete them, clear the app’s storage or remove the app. It does not automatically expire old workout history. Device backups may keep copies after local deletion.
Temporary files
Some jobs need a short-lived file. The app writes these into its own temporary storage on your phone (also called its “cache”):
- the backup file you save, while the share menu sends it where you choose,
- a picture you share,
- on iPhone, a copy of the backup file you pick when you restore a backup.
The app deletes them when they’re no longer needed:
- Backup file: deleted when you save your next backup, or the next time you open the app. It isn’t deleted straight away, because the app you sent it to may still be reading it.
- Shared picture: deleted when you share your next picture (not straight away, for the same reason). A picture shared the last time the app was open is usually deleted later too, but it can sometimes stay until your phone clears the app’s temporary storage or you remove the app.
- Copy of a picked backup file (iPhone): deleted as soon as the app has read it.
- If the app closes before it could clean up, the app deletes the backup file it left behind the next time you open it. It also deletes any camera files left by older test versions of the app.
- ”Delete all data” also deletes the app’s temporary files (see “Deleting your data”), apart from, sometimes, a picture shared the last time the app was open.
About these files:
- While they exist, they’re not encrypted.
- Your phone may also clear the app’s temporary storage by itself (for example when it runs low on space). Uninstalling the app removes it.
- Your phone’s own backup (Google or iCloud) normally leaves the app’s temporary storage out.
Backups
- You can save a backup file (Settings → Data). The app makes the file and opens your phone’s share menu, and you choose where it goes, for example Google Drive, iCloud Drive or an email to yourself. The app doesn’t send it to us.
- The backup file holds everything listed under “What the app keeps on your phone”, except the backup dates and the free workouts and unlock. It is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere safe.
- The app keeps its own copy of the newest backup file in its temporary storage until you save the next one, open the app again or use “Delete all data” (see “Temporary files”).
- The app reminds you once a week to save a backup, when you have workouts that aren’t in a backup yet. This reminder is on from the start. You can turn it off in Settings → Data. It shows as a popup in the app, and also as a phone notification if you allow notifications.
Your phone’s own backup (Google or iCloud) may also include the app’s data, depending on your phone’s settings. That backup belongs to your Google or Apple account and we can’t see it.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app can send:
- Workout reminders on the days you choose,
- a rest timer alert when your rest between sets is over and the app isn’t on screen,
- a backup reminder once a week. It’s on from the start; you can turn it off in Settings → Data.
They’re all scheduled on your phone itself. They don’t use the internet or any server, and we don’t see them. They don’t show your workout details. You can turn the workout and backup reminders off in the app. To turn off the rest timer alert, or all of the app’s notifications, use your phone’s settings.
Sharing pictures
You can share a picture of a finished workout or of a monthly recap. The picture is made on your phone. A workout picture shows things like the routine name, date, time, sets, weight lifted, personal records and your streak. A monthly recap shows things like the number of workouts, time, sets, weight lifted, records, training days and the exercise you did most. The picture goes where you send it (for example a messaging or social media app), and those apps have their own privacy policies. The app deletes its own copy later (see “Temporary files”).
Free workouts and Google Play purchases
Your first 10 finished workouts are free. After that, starting a new workout needs a one-time purchase through Google Play (the “unlock”). There’s no NeonRep account: Google Play uses the Google account on your phone to take the payment and to remember the purchase. The price and purchase conditions are on the purchase screen and in the purchase policy. Purchases are only available in the Android app installed from Google Play.
What the app keeps. The app saves on your phone which finished workouts used up a free workout, and whether Google Play last said that your Google account owns the unlock (see “What the app keeps on your phone”). It uses them to show how many free workouts are left and to keep the app unlocked when you’re offline. They are not in backup files, so a backup file can’t unlock the app. The app doesn’t save purchase tokens, order numbers or payment details.
Talking to Google Play. The app uses the open-source expo-iap library to talk to the
Google Play app on your phone. It asks Google Play whether your Google account owns the unlock
when the app opens and each time you come back to it, and when you tap Restore purchase. It
gets the price from Google Play to show it. When you buy, Google Play’s own payment screen opens;
the app never sees your card details or your Google password. After a purchase, the app
confirms it to Google Play (“acknowledges” it), which Google Play requires. The purchase
details the app gets from Google Play, including the purchase token, stay in the app’s memory
and are only sent back to Google Play. The app sends no workout history or body-weight entries
for any of this. There is no NeonRep server and no other purchase service.
Google Play handles the payment and keeps the purchase record under Google’s own privacy policy. As the publisher, Trap-jaw Ant Studios, LLC can see order details for purchases of the unlock in Google Play’s tools for developers.
Gift codes. Friends and family may get a Google Play promo code from us. You redeem it in Google Play, which handles it like a purchase made with your Google account. The purchase screen’s Redeem code button opens Google Play’s redeem page.
Restoring the unlock is separate from restoring workouts. On another phone, or after reinstalling, the app finds the purchase in your Google account; your workouts still need your backup file. Deleting NeonRep’s data or uninstalling the app doesn’t cancel a purchase, ask for a refund or erase Google’s records of it.
Links that open other apps
A few buttons open another app or a web page, and only when you tap them:
- ”Privacy policy” opens this page in a browser window. Our website’s host, Netlify, receives the technical information that comes with any visit, such as your IP address and browser. The website privacy policy explains this.
- The support email address opens your email app. The app does not attach your workout database automatically. If you send us an email, we receive your email address, message, attachments and the technical delivery information included by the email service.
Email, hosting and sharing providers also process information under their own privacy terms. Opening a website can disclose your IP address and browser/request information to that site; it does not give the site access to your locally stored workout database.
Information you send to us
We use support and privacy messages to answer requests, investigate reported problems and meet applicable legal obligations. Our email provider, Google Workspace, processes those messages to deliver and store them. We keep correspondence only for as long as needed for those purposes and any applicable legal retention requirements. You can contact the privacy address to request access, correction or deletion of information you have sent us, subject to applicable law.
Please send only information needed for your request. You do not need to send your workout history or body-weight log to ask a general question.
Things we don’t do
- No NeonRep account, sign-in or login.
- No analytics, tracking or “usage statistics” in the app.
- No sale of personal information or use of workout records for targeted advertising.
- No automatic cloud sync or upload of workout/body-weight records to us.
- No camera, location, contacts or microphone: the app doesn’t ask for them. It doesn’t look at the photos on your phone either.
Crash reports
NeonRep does not currently include a third-party crash-reporting or analytics service that uploads your workout database. Apple, Google or your device provider may separately process installation, usage or diagnostic information under their own terms and your device/account settings. Their developer tools may make crash or performance reports available to us. These reports can include device, operating-system and error information; we do not promise that all platform-provided reports are anonymous.
Development copies running in Expo Go also use Expo’s development services to load the app. Expo Go’s own data practices are separate from the locally stored NeonRep records described here. A development preview is not evidence of a release build’s network behavior.
Deleting your data
- Settings → Data → Delete all data removes from the app every workout, your routines (the starter routines come back), your weigh-ins and the app’s temporary files (see “Temporary files”), and resets all settings.
- “Delete all data” doesn’t remove the backup dates (when you last saved a backup and last answered the backup reminder) or its notification-permission prompt flag.
- “Delete all data” also keeps how many free workouts were used, and whether the app is unlocked. It forgets which workouts they were: their ids are replaced by plain numbers. Otherwise deleting everything and loading a backup would give the free workouts back.
- Uninstalling/deleting the app normally removes its local app storage. Your operating system or backup service may retain or later restore a separate copy.
- Your phone’s own backup (Google or iCloud) may still hold an older copy of the app’s data (see “Backups”).
- Backup files you saved somewhere else (like Google Drive or your phone’s Downloads folder) stay there until you delete them yourself.
We cannot access, change or remotely delete records that exist only on your device. This does not apply to messages or attachments you choose to send us; contact us about those separately.
Your choices and privacy requests
You can review and edit records in the app, export a backup, delete individual records or use “Delete all data”. You can manage reminders in Settings and notification permission in your phone’s settings. Copies already sent to another service must be managed there.
Depending on where you live and the information involved, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal information, restrict or object to its processing, or complain to your local privacy regulator. Contact the privacy address about information we hold. We will consider requests under the law that applies; we cannot retrieve data held only on your phone.
If you live in Europe, the UK or Brazil
NeonRep is offered in every country where Google Play sells apps. These details are for places with laws like the GDPR (European Union and UK) and the LGPD (Brazil).
- Who is responsible: Trap-jaw Ant Studios, LLC, in the United States, is responsible for the information we receive about you (the “controller”). Contact us at support@trapjawantstudios.com.
- Your records on your phone: we don’t receive them, so we don’t process them.
- Messages you send us: we use them to answer you and to look into the problem you report, because you asked us to and because we have a legitimate interest in answering. We keep them as described under “Information you send to us”.
- Order details from Google Play: we use them to help with purchase problems and to keep the business records the law requires, to provide the unlock you bought and to meet those legal obligations.
- Other countries: we’re in the United States. Our email provider (Google Workspace) and Google Play may process information in the United States and other countries, under their own terms.
- Your rights: you can use the rights described under “Your choices and privacy requests”, and complain to your local data protection authority (in Brazil, the ANPD).
Children
NeonRep is meant for people 13 and older. It isn’t made for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. The app doesn’t ask your age or check it, and it works the same way for everyone: no account, no advertising, no tracking, and your records stay on your phone. If a child under 13 has emailed us, a parent or guardian can contact us and we’ll delete the message.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes what it does with your data, we’ll update this page and change the “Last updated” date at the top. The current policy will be available through Settings → Data → About → Privacy policy and at https://trapjawantstudios.com/neonrep/privacy/.
